The Fourth of July is just a few days away and it promises our favorite things: an extended weekend away from the office (hopefully!), indulging shamelessly in some cheeseburgers and hot dogs, and, of course, the fireworks. We want to make sure your summer holiday runs smoothly with our BBQ, party, and outdoor tips!
Tip 1: Hang Up a Flag
First things first: It wouldn’t be a patriotic day without the stars and stripes. Whether you decide to hang a flag in your entryway or install a flagpole, be sure to follow the Flag Code, which states the proper guidelines for displaying an American flag.
Tip 2: The Perfect Spot to Entertain
The best thing about BBQ’s is they are fuss-free which makes it the perfect way to celebrate the 4th. Go with the classic picnic table to create a casual outdoor dining experience to host your family and friends. Add twinkling lights to your yard to create an atmosphere that will make the night one to remember.
Tip 3: Menu, Menu, Menu
It wouldn’t be a summer BBQ without the food. Plan your menu filled with hot dogs, hamburgers, veggies, and of course, desserts ahead of time to make sure nothing is forgotten. If you haven’t fired up the grill yet this summer, perform a cleaning and checkup to ensure a safe and successful BBQ.
Tip 4: Beat the Bugs
Don’t let mosquitoes or other stinging insects prevent you from enjoying the outdoor festivities. Fend them off by pretreating your party with these tips and tricks provided here in our homeowner tips of the month.
Tip 5: Let Everyone Play Outside
Make your yard the best on the block by adding games for guests of all ages and abilities. Badminton and Wiffle Ball are some of the best backyard games but consider some of the new fan favorites like cornhole, volleyball, and ladder toss. With a variety of games on hand you can be sure your guests won’t get bored before the fireworks start!
Tip 6: Watch Fireworks
Let’s face it, without the fireworks display the Fourth of July wouldn’t be the same. There are a variety of professionals displays planned for the community, check them out here! This is the safest way to enjoy fireworks but if some types of consumer fireworks are legal in your state, you may choose to set them off on your own. If that’s the case, it’s critical that you protect yourself and your family by knowing how to prevent a fire or an emergency-room visit.
